The Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro are launching tomorrow, and while we wait for that to happen, a new leak has shown us how cases will protect their rear cameras. Some Pixel 6 series cases surfaced on Twitter, courtesy of Evan Blass.
Google’s plastic cases for the Pixel 6 & 6 Pro appear
These seem to be some official cases, made most likely out of plastic, based on their looks. As some of you know by now, Google is rumored to ditch its fabric cases, so we may not get them for these two phones.
In any case, the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro have a rather interesting-looking camera island on the back. It goes from the left to the right side of the phone, and it does protrude quite a bit. Well, You’ll notice that, in order to protect those cameras, these cases protrude above and below the cameras quite a bit.
This is one of the oddest-looking camera setups that we’ve seen, and this is basically the only solution to protect these cameras. These cases in particular don’t gradually raise in order to protect the cameras, not at all, they simply protrude under a 90-degree angle.
These cases resemble Peel’s paper-thin offerings
They are also see-through, and they do remind us of Peel’s paper-thin cases. It is possible, and probable these cases are a bit thicker, though, we’ll see. Google allegedly used over 30-percent recycled plastic to make these cases, and you can see them in several colors below.
What you’ll also notice is large cutouts on the side. Both the power / lock key and volume rocker keys have rather large cutouts, just to make them easier to find and press.
The Pixel 6 and 6 Pro have been leaking, intensively, for a while now. Google revealed their designs a while back, even though they weren’t fully announced. They still aren’t, but will be tomorrow.
These two phones do sport the same design language, but will look a bit different in comparison. The Pixel 6 Pro includes a curved display, while the Pixel 6 has a flat one. The ‘Pro’ model will also include one extra camera on the back, and some other advantages. They will be similar in terms of size, though.
