Google launched the most expected smartphone from the company, the Pixel 6 and 6 Pro a few weeks ago. Now, as more users are getting the devices, especially the Pixel 6 Pro, in their hands, some of them have come across a display flickering issue when the phone is turned off.

Pixel phones have a history of arriving with some or the other hardware issue or a flaw, which would eventually ruin the user experience. Thankfully, for Google Pixel 6 and 6 Pro, that was not the case. However, a few users are seeing this display flickering issue on their Pixel 6 Pro, which fortunately isn’t a huge deal.

Moreover, the good news is Google was fast to acknowledge this issue and says that a fix for it will be bundled with the December update.

For those who are unaware, Pixel 6 Pro users have reported that the device’s display shows horizontal strips of light going up and down the screen. This happens when the power button is partially pressed on a completely switched-off Pixel 6 Pro.

In the latest report by 9To5Google, Google has officially acknowledged the Pixel 6 Pro display residual light flickering issue on its Help community.

The company’s statement reads, “Pixel 6 Pro users may notice slight, transient display artifacts when the device is turned off, and when they press on the power button with a slight pressure but not enough to turn it on.

Google tells the Pixel 6 Pro owners to not cycle the power button

The Pixel team, however, said that their team “does not represent an issue with the phone hardware.” They further added the good news that the December software update for Pixel 6 Pro will fix this issue.

So, this means the upcoming December software update will be a big bug fixer. This is because the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are already running on the latest November security patch.

Google is also fixing the behavior of the ‘Internet’ Quick Settings panel with that November update. The November update is currently available for the Pixel 6 series. Other Pixel phones running Android 12 will receive the update soon.

As far as the temporary fix for this Google Pixel 6 Pro display flickering issue is concerned, Google has got you covered, till the time the December update arrives.

The company advises its users not to cycle the power button when the phone is switched off. Besides, Google also claimed that this isn’t a big issue and does not represent any deeper issues.
