The Samsung Galaxy S22 is expected to be announced in early 2022, but we’re already starting to see plenty of leaks about the new phone. Including a nice little tidbit from Ross Young from DSCC. Young tweeted today the Galaxy S22 colors by model. As well as the fact that production will start in the first week of December.
Young has an almost impeccable track record when it comes to leaks like this. So, while we’ll still take this with a grain of salt, it is likely to be very accurate.
S22/+/U phone production from 1st week of December. Colors by model:
S22 – Black, Green, Pink Gold, White
S22+- Black, Green, Pink Gold, White
S22U – Black, Dark Red, Green, White— Ross Young (@DSCCRoss) November 3, 2021
The Galaxy S22 and S22+ will be available in Black, Green, Pink Gold and White. While the Galaxy S22 Ultra will be available in Black, Dark Red, Green and White. Obviously, these will not be the names that Samsung uses when it announces the Galaxy S22 next year, as they will have some sort of marketing names for these.
Production will begin next month
As stated, Young says that production for these three models will start the first week of December. That might seem a bit early for the Galaxy S22, but we have to remember that Samsung is going to need units to send out to press during or shortly after the event. Then they also need to be prepared for when the device goes up for pre-orders.
It’s quite common for production to start a couple months ahead of when the device will be announced and/or available.
Right now, the plan for Samsung looks to be that the Galaxy S21 FE will come in January and the Galaxy S22 in February. This means that we could see the Galaxy S22 at MWC in February, or shortly before the trade-show. Which is how it’s been normally. Though this year was a bit difference since MWC was moved to June. But typically a week or two before MWC, Samsung will have its big Unpacked event announcing these new devices.
