The update issue is affecting Verizon phones specifically
Google is wading through a slew of complaints right now as people struggle with issues on their Pixel 6 devices. Most of the complaints are surrounding the under-display fingerprint scanners. Sluggish behavior, the ability to unlock it with unregistered prints, and being completely disabled are the problems bothering users.
Now, Verizon users are dealing with their own little roadblocks. There’s a section of users who bought the phone unlocked and placed their Verizon SIM cards into the tray. For some reason, they’re not getting the latest updates pushed out by Google. They’re still on the version that the phone shipped with.

As of yet, Google hasn’t said anything on the subject. Undoubtedly, people will also want to contact Verizon to see if it’s something on the company’s end; and it actually is. The Pixel 6 phones were shipped with a certain software version number (SD1A.210817.019.C2), and this version number applies to most carriers.
Verizon, on the other hand, has its own version number for its unlocked phones. This means that when phones on other carriers get their updates, unlocked Pixel 6 phones on Verizon can’t get it. Right now, everyone is waiting for Verizon to push out its unique version of the software.

Google has its hands full with problems surrounding the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro’s under-display fingerprint scanner. The latest issue that people are reporting causes the fingerprint scanner to stop working altogether.
A user on Reddit reported that after they completely drained the battery, they charged it to find that the fingerprint scanner no longer worked. It completely disabled itself and didn’t want to reactivate. Other users are also experiencing this bug.
When the users tried to re-register their fingerprints, they would get an error saying “Enrollment was not completed. Fingerprint enrollment didn’t work. Try again or use a different finger.” This means that whoever this happens to will need to use other methods to unlock their phones; pins and passwords.
Countless individuals have undoubtedly contacted Google, but the company has yet to address this issue. By now, everyone knows that the Pixel 6 devices have some major issues surrounding their fingerprint scanners, and Google will need to do something fast if it wants this phone to truly be one of the best of 2021.
