Discovery+ has finally launched its app on VIZIO SmartCast TVs. Discovery+ was already available on most other platforms, and now those with a VIZIO SmartCast TV, you’ll be able to watch your favorite Discovery shows too.
With the app, VIZIO will have a dedicated carousel for “Discover more on Discovery+” on the home screen. Which will show some of Discovery+’s most popular content. That also shows customers what the streaming service has to offer.
It’s the holiday season, so the carousel will be promoting a lot of holiday shows and movies. Like Fruitcake Fraud, The Pioneer Woman’s Hometown: Holiday Themes, and many more.
VIZIO’s vice president of business development, Katherine Pond stated that “VIZIO SmartCast users can now experience the high quality, non-fiction storytelling that Discovery is known for as well as enjoy an extensive slate of exclusive discovery+ originals and shows across a broad range of genres.” She continued by saying, “the addition of discovery+ on the SmartCast home screen means audiences can dive into a deep catalog of content and instantly stream some of the most popular shows on television.”
What content is available on Discovery+?
Discovery+ offers over 55,000 episodes across 2,500 different TV shows. A lof of the Discovery+ shows are reality shows, so there’s plenty of content to watch.
Remember that Discovery+ houses HGTV, Food Network, TLC, ID, OWN, Travel Channel, Discovery Channel and Animal Planet. So you’re getting a lot of great content here.
Discovery+ will cost you $4.99 for an ad-supported tier and $6.99 for an ad-free tier. If you really don’t want to see any ads when watching content, then the extra $2 per month is worth it. It’s still less than Disney+ is now.
