Samsung is rolling out yet another software update to the Galaxy S22 series, the third this month. Weighing in at more than 635MB, this is a pretty big update and brings several changes and enhancements. According to the official changelog (via), the new Samsung flagships are getting improvements to the camera, Bluetooth, and touchscreen.
Firstly, Samsung says the Galaxy S22 trio can now capture clearer and brighter videos in low-light conditions. A similar enhancement recently rolled out to the Expert RAW camera app as well. It appears the Korean company is updating the built-in camera app for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra with the same changes.
The new Galaxy flagships are also getting improvements to the touch functionality. We expect a faster and smoother touch response following this update. Hopefully, it squashes some of the long-reported display bugs too. Last but not least, the changelog says stability improvements for Bluetooth connectivity and motion audio. This should enable a more reliable connection with wireless devices.
The Galaxy S22 series gets another software update
The latest update for the Galaxy S22 trio is currently available to users in Samsung’s homeland South Korea with firmware version S90*NKSS1AVDC. But from what it appears, this is the same update that rolled out in some other regions a couple of days back, including the UK and Russia. It was also a big OTA (over the air) package that weighed almost half a gigabyte (GB).
Following that update, several users on the company’s community forums reported smoother scrolling, improved battery life, and faster overall performance of the device. This suggested some underlying optimizations, possibly for the touchscreen functionality as well as other system elements. Unfortunately, the official changelog didn’t mention anything notable, so we couldn’t verify if the two updates are the same.
Nonetheless, if you’re using any of the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra and haven’t received a big software update recently, you should soon be receiving one. As far as installing the new software package is concerned, you probably already know the drill. You will receive a notification once the OTA update becomes available for your phone. But if you can’t wait, you can manually check for the update by navigating to Settings > Software update and tapping on Download and install. If an update is available, you will be prompted to download it. If there’s no update available, check back again later.
