Samsung is picking up the pace with its April 2022 Android security patch rollout. Not one or two, but three Galaxy smartphones are receiving the new security update today — Galaxy Z Fold 2, Galaxy S20 FE, and Galaxy A53 5G. You can expect more of them to join the party within a few days.

As of this writing, the Galaxy Z Fold 2 is receiving the April security update in a bunch of European countries. The rollout should soon cross borders and reach more regions over the next few days and weeks. The updated firmware version for the 2020 foldable smartphone is F916BXXS2GVCA.

The Galaxy S20 FE, on the other hand, is receiving the latest SMR (security maintenance release) in Australia and a few Asian countries. As SamMobile notes, who first reported this rollout, this is the LTE variant of the phone with model number SM-G780G. It didn’t have a global release since Samsung offered the Galaxy S20 FE 5G in most markets. But if you own this device, you should be receiving the April security update soon. Look out for an OTA (over the air) rollout with firmware version G780GXXS3CVC4.

Lastly, the Galaxy A53 5G, which went official last month, is now picking up its first software update. It is getting the latest security patch, and possibly some new features and optimizations too. Samsung tends to push these kinds of updates early on to its new smartphones. The changelog does say “new and/or enhanced features” but no detail is provided.

Nonetheless, if you’ve got the new Samsung mid-ranger, the April update should be reaching you soon. The update is currently rolling out to users in South Korea and India, with firmware versions A536NKSU1AVCC and A536EXXU1AVCD respectively. But it shouldn’t be long before the rollout reaches more markets.

More Samsung smartphones receive the April security update

Samsung began seeding the latest security patch to its devices in the last week of March. The Galaxy S22 series had the distinction of receiving the new update first. But over the past couple of weeks, several other devices have joined the party. Samsung has also simultaneously expanded the rollout to more markets.

If you own any of the aforementioned Galaxy smartphones, the new security update should be available to you soon if you haven’t already received it. You will get a notification for it once the OTA package hits your phone. You can also manually check for updates from the Settings app, under the Software update menu.
