The Huawei Mate X3 may end up featuring a different design compared to its predecessor
Based on the information provided by GizmoChina, the Huawei Mate X3 may offer an outward-folding design. In other words, it may have a similar design to the original Mate X handset.
What does this mean? Well, we may get one display instead of two. Instead of the main display be completely hidden when the phone is folded, that main display will fold in the other direction, and half of it will be in use when the phone is folded.
That means that the second part of the display will sit on the back of the phone, and be exposed to scratches and so on. Truth be said, this is probably not the best idea, and it doesn’t make sense.
This rumor seems a bit sketchy, and it probably won’t pan out
The Huawei Mate X2 was a really well-built smartphone, and Huawei has no reason to backtrack. There’s a reason we’re seeing two designs of foldable smartphones these days, and both fold inwards.
If we had to guess, we’d say that the Mate X3 will continue where the Mate X2 left off. This outward-folding design rumor doesn’t really seem to make sense.
The Mate X3 is tipped to arrive by the end of this month, to China. Huawei still didn’t confirm anything, but that’s what tipsters have been saying.
The Mate X3 will likely be fueled by the Kirin 9000 or Snapdragon 888 SoC. Regardless of which SoC Huawei ends up using, the phone will support 4G connectivity, not 5G. That’s due to the US ban.
A 4,500mAh battery was also mentioned, and the same goes for 66W fast charging. We’re not entirely sure when will this phone launch, though. The Mate X2 launched in February last year, so it has been over a year at this point. The device will launch in China first, though.
