Meta’s CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, has released a video on his Instagram account that demonstrates the company’s high-end Project Cambria VR headset. The Project Cambria is the most progressive VR headset ever that comes with high-resolution image sensors.
Meta and Mark Zuckerberg are totally attracted to the VR experience. Also, the future of the company seems to be around virtual reality. Project Cambria is the latest innovation from Meta that tries to reduce the gap between the virtual and the real world.
The main benefit of the Project Cambria VR headset is its higher resolution image sensors. Also, it uses Meta’s Presence Platform to create a mixed reality experience. Meta has previously highlighted the difference between Quest and Cambria headsets in a video.
Project Cambria is Meta’s high-end VR headset
Mark Zuckerberg himself seems highly passionate about Project Cambria. He is playing with the cartoon character from this Oppy video in the posted reel. Also, Meta demonstrated the ability to visit a virtual office and virtually work through your cloud workstation.
Mete is also going to release an update for the SDK next week. Meta CTO Andrew Bosworth said the update will include “the full set of Presence Platform tools powered by machine perception and AI—Passthrough, Spatial Anchors, Scene, Interaction and Voice SDKs, and our recently updated Hand Tracking API.”
Meta has blurred the headset in the promo video, and still, there are no details about the hardware. Janko Roettgers at Protocol could test the device briefly and says the image is closer to “decent quality home video.” However, it’s not photorealistic yet.
During the Facebook Connect event last year, the company demonstrated The World Beyond’s demo. Meta says it will be available to developers through App Lab.
Meta is currently working on a handful of VR headsets, and Project Cambria is just one of them. The Project Cambria is expected to launch “later this year.”
