Samsung is rolling out a minor update for the Galaxy Buds 2, bringing security and stability improvements to the company’s most recent earbuds. The update appears to be live in South Korea, but it shouldn’t take long for it to appear in other markets.

The update changelog is fairly short, indicating that there are no major features included. Nevertheless, we recommend downloading the update, primarily for the security enhancements onboard.
Owners of the Galaxy Buds 2 can find the new update via the Galaxy Wearable app on their paired devices. The update is a miserly 3MB in size and bears the firmware version R177XXU0AVE1, as per SamMobile.
Samsung is currently gearing up to release the Galaxy Buds 2 Pokémon Edition in South Korea. It will include a wireless charging case shaped like the iconic Poké Ball. However, it’s unclear if these limited edition earbuds will launch outside Samsung’s home region. But we know the company will sell it for approximately 134,000 Won ($108). This aligns with the current pricing of the Galaxy Buds 2 in the U.S.
Despite having arrived nearly a year ago, the Galaxy Buds 2 is still one of the best TWS earbuds out there. We were particularly impressed with its size in our review. However, the battery life and the build quality of the charging case weren’t the best in the industry. But when we compare it with expensive earbuds like the Apple AirPods Pro, for example, Samsung’s offering is undoubtedly the better option, particularly for Android or Galaxy device owners.
Samsung brought 360 Audio to the Galaxy Buds 2 in April
On top of the long list of features like an 11mm woofer plus a 6.3mm tweeter and 2-way audio (dual-driver), the Buds 2 also features three microphones to block out external noise. The earbuds can last up to 7.5 hours without ANC but only 5 hours with ANC turned on, courtesy of the 472mAh battery.
Samsung has also added new features to the Galaxy Buds 2 in the form of updates. The manufacturer began rolling out support for 360 Audio in April, thus bringing parity with the older Galaxy Buds Pro.
