The Android 12 update is here for Samsung‘s Galaxy Tab A7 10.4 (2020). The two-year-old affordable tablet is receiving the update complete with the company’s One UI 4.1 custom skin. The new software package also bundles the latest June security patch.
As of this writing, the big Android update for the Galaxy Tab A7 10.4 is rolling out in Europe. The rollout is also currently limited to the LTE variant of the tablet (model number SM-T505). The update brings a whole lot of new features, improvements, and optimizations to the device.
To start with, we have Samsung’s Color Palette feature that lets you customize your tablet’s UI elements with unique colors that match your wallpaper. New display indicators let you know whenever an app or service accesses your phone’s camera and microphone. You also now receive alerts when an app accesses passwords, credit card numbers, and other sensitive information that you have copied and stored on the clipboard.
Samsung Keyboard is getting Grammarly integration for grammar and spelling checks. You can also now combine two emojis and add animations on Samsung Keyboard. The homescreen is getting new widgets while the device now lets your record a voice memo from the lockscreen as well. Improved AR Emoji, improved Bixby Routines, new camera and editing features, more customization options, and Samsung Internet improvements are some other highlights of Android 12-based One UI 4.1.
Samsung’s Galaxy Tab A7 10.4 gets Android 12
Samsung launched the Galaxy Tab A7 10.4 in September 2020. The tablet arrived in the market running Android 10. It received the Android 11 update last year. The device is now gaining Android 12 in what is possibly the last major update for it.
While the Android 12 update for the LTE variant of the Galaxy Tab A7 10.4 is now available to users in most European countries, those using the tablet in other regions may have to wait a few more days to get the taste of the new Android version. People using the Wi-Fi-only model (SM-T500) may also have to stay on Android 11 for some more time.
Once the update reaches your unit, you will be notified of it. But you can also manually check for OTA (over the air) updates anytime on your device. Simply open the Settings app, navigate to the Software update menu, and tap on Download and install. Since it’s a major software update weighing more than a gigabyte (GB), you might want to connect your Galaxy Tab A7 10.4 to a stable Wi-Fi network before downloading the OTA package.
