Google announced the Pixel Watch back at the I/O 2022 event, and with that, thanks to recent reports, we now have a clear picture of what the future holds for the Google Fit app.

According to the latest report by 9to5Google, the Google Fit logo is all set to be revamped. Instead of the closed heart logo, the Google Fit will sport a heart, but it doesn’t have a closed shape.

The red U shape in the icon is now more like the letter C, making the yellow portion of the logo seem like a checkmark. Another interesting change in the logo is that Google has flipped the blue and green colors.

So, now there is a blue checkmark at the bottom, with a green coloring portion. As pointed out by 9To5Google, the yellow and blue checkmarks could very well be Google Fit’s way of prioritizing two metrics, i.e., steps and heart rate. Notably, users are already greeted with a checkmark animation when meeting either.

The logo hasn’t gone official but is a recreation of the design when the updated app goes live

One important point to note here is that the new logo hasn’t gone official, just yet. The source recreated the logo based on the design information they have received when the updated app goes live on the Play Store.

Google’s revamping of the Google Fit app’s icon shows that the company still has an interest in its product. Fitbit co-founder James Park has also said that Google Fit is here to stay, and the Pixel Watch officially confirms it.

Moreover, Google Fit and Fitbit, along with Samsung Health, have also announced that they will be coming up with Health Connect integrations. This would be a great deal of work for the Google Fit app that some thought didn’t have a future.

Also, Google added that Health Services of Wear OS 3’s “power efficient and easy-to-use library for collecting real-time sensor data on smartwatches” will be “powering all the Google and Fitbit-branded health and fitness experiences on the recently announced Google Pixel Watch.”

At present, it is unclear how Google plans to keep Google Fit alive, but there are chances that it could be a built-in feature that won’t require users to install the Fitbit app. The updated app icon is expected to arrive with the next update to the Google Fit app.
