Samsung has begun rolling out the June 2022 Android security patch to the Galaxy A52. The company has also detailed the content of the latest security update. As usual, it fixes several dozen vulnerabilities.

The Galaxy A52 is currently receiving the June SMR (Security Maintenance Release) in Russia. But the rollout should soon expand to other markets too. The new firmware version for the 2020 premium mid-ranger is A525FXXU4BVE2.

According to Samsung’s updated monthly security bulletin, this month’s security patch contains fixes for more than 70 vulnerabilities. The majority of those vulnerabilities were found in Google’s version of the Android OS and were patched by the Android maker. The company has labeled five of the patched vulnerabilities as “critical” severity issues.

Additionally, the June SMR patches 25 SVE (Samsung Vulnerabilities and Exposures) items. These are security flaws that only affect the company’s Android-powered smartphones and tablets. Among the SVEs patched this month is a high-severity issue that allowed untrusted apps to access and use the device’s camera without proper authorization.

Samsung also patched a security bug that enabled a local attacker to obtain sensitive information such as SIM card information from the low-battery dumpstate log. Another SVE fixed with the June SMR allowed crooks to bypass user confirmation of the Samsung Account. All of these fixes are now rolling out to the Galaxy A52 as well as a few other Galaxy smartphones and tablets.

The June security update is available to a bunch of Galaxy devices

Samsung has been rolling out this month’s SMR to its devices for almost three weeks now. The company first seeded the new patch to the Galaxy Tab S7 series. The Galaxy S22, Galaxy S21, Galaxy A73, Galaxy Z Fold 2, and now, Galaxy A52 have since joined the party. Of course, the availability of the June update for these devices varies by market. The latest SMR has yet to reach the phones in some regions. But it’s only a matter of time now.

If you’re using any of these Samsung smartphones and tablets and haven’t received the June SMR yet, you should soon. Watch out for a notification prompting you to download the OTA (over the air) update in the coming days. You may also head over to Settings > Software update on your phone and tap on Download and install to check for updates manually. If you don’t see any pending OTA firmware, check back in a few days.
