Google’s Pixel 6 series has had its fair share of problems since launch. Tons of different bugs appeared, and even though Google managed to solve the vast majority of those, new ones keep on coming. The latest Pixel 6 issue that surfaced has to do with dead pixels.

Brand new Pixel 6 issue seems to be – dead pixels

Users have started noticing dead pixels by the front camera, and in the upper right corner of the display. They started sharing those issues via Reddit, Twitter, and the Google Support page, reports Phone Arena.

A user called ‘Beau Youin’ wrote: “The screen has developed a black dot that appears to be growing. Phone has not been dropped and has been updated. What is going on? Google support is very frustrating and doesn’t allow me to chat or call anyone. And the drop down menu below doesn’t let me choose the Pixel 6 Pro. WTH”.

Google Pixel 6 dead pixels bug

The users only assume these are dead pixels, and they’re probably right, as that’s exactly what this looks like. It could be a different issue, perhaps a software bug of sorts, it wouldn’t be the first time we’re seeing something like this.

If it’s a software problem, Google can resolve it via an update. Perhaps some pixels got turned off thanks to a bug. On the flip side, if it’s a hardware problem, then it’s a more serious issue, and those phones will have to go in for repair.

One user managed to solve the issue by reverting to the March security update

Now, at least one user managed to solve this issue by installing the March security update on his Pixel 6. That points to a software bug. It doesn’t have to be the case for every user, though. Also, not everyone will be willing to do something like that, as it’s not exactly a piece of cake if you’re not tech-savvy. We do hope it’s a software issue for all, though.

Considering the number of bugs the Pixel 6 series had, some users may be deterred from getting the Pixel 7 (Pro). The Pixel 6 sales have been great for Google, but will it cost them considering the number of bugs that have surfaced? Well, we’ll have to see.

The Pixel 7 series is coming later this year, but before that, the Pixel 6a will step forward. The phone will go on pre-order on July 21, and will become available to purchase on July 28.
