Android 13 stable started rolling out yesterday. This update does bring new features, but most of all, it polishes the Android experience. Android 12 was the update that brought significant changes last year. That being said, Android 13 actually patches up over 100 bugs on Pixel phones.

Android 13 actually patches up way over 100 bugs on Pixel phones

Now, to be more accurate, this update brings around 150 bug fixes. Some of these bug fixes are pretty minor, but some of them are actually quite notable. Regardless, bug fixes are always good to see, especially considering how buggy some Pixel phones got.

Considering the sheer amount of these bug fixes, we can’t exactly talk about all of them. We’ll highlight a couple of them here, but you can check out a full list by clicking here.

The first improvement worth noting relates to the fingerprint scanner performance. It’s not exactly a secret that the Pixel 6, 6 Pro, and 6a don’t offer the best fingerprint scanner experience.

Several changelog entries pertain to the fingerprint scanner performance

Well, Google is trying to address that. The company actually has several entries in the changelog that pertain to the fingerprint scanner. It fixed the issue when it would stop working on the aforementioned phones, without cause.

It also improved the fingerprint haptics latency and response time. General improvements for fingerprint performance are also listed, as are improvements for unlocking in different lighting conditions. The company even listed general usability improvements for fingerprint enrollment. It remains to be seen if any of these actually improve the fingerprint scanner performance, noticeably.

The company also improved thermal mitigation handling for all three phones, in some scenarios. Idle power consumption has been improved, as did wireless charging for a number of Pixel phones.

Issues with screen flickering have been addressed, and the same goes for app install issues that some people experienced. GPS stability and location accuracy have been improved, and so were some Android Auto-related issues.

We’re only scratching the surface here, though. Google really went all out to fix a ton of bug fixes that users have been reporting.
