The Huawei Mate 50 series will become official on September 6. The company confirmed that recently. Having said that, some new information surfaced regarding the Huawei Mate 50 series, along with older info. It seems like at least some Huawei Mate 50 models will offer variable aperture.
Some Huawei Mate 50 devices may utilize variable aperture
First and foremost, Huawei is expected to announce four devices as part of the series, three of which will offer higher-end specs. The Huawei Mate 50E is said to include the Snapdragon 778G, while the Mate 50, Mate 50 Pro, and Mate 50 RS will ship with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1.
Do note that 5G connectivity won’t be a part of the package, though, due to the US ban. Huawei is tipped to utilize the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC, but without 5G:
Now, the Huawei Mate 50, Mate 50 Pro, and Mate 50 RS also got certified by the 3C Authority in China. Those certifications confirmed that Huawei intends to offer 66W charging on the devices.
The Huawei Mate 50 Pro and Mate 50 RS are tipped to feature a notch on their displays. Those two devices are also said to utilize a variable aperture on the main camera. Huawei will likely use the Sony IMX766 (a 50-megapixel camera) as the phone’s main camera sensor.
If that sounds familiar, the Galaxy S9 and S10 used variable aperture back in the day. They were able to switch between an f/1.7 and f/2.4 aperture. Samsung ditched the tech with the Galaxy S20 series, though.
You can also expect Huawei’s ‘XMAGE’ camera branding
We’re not exactly sure if Huawei has similar plans to this, but the company may be planning to use something a bit more advanced. We’ll see. Speaking of the cameras, the company’s upcoming flagships will feature the ‘XMAGE’ branding on the back. That is Huawei’s new camera branding, as it’s no longer partnered up with Leica.
Another detail worth noting is that the Mate 50 series won’t include Google services. That’s not exactly news, as it has been the case for quite some time, due to the US ban. They will ship with Huawei’s very own services and app store, though, like the company’s other devices.
