Samsung may begin the stable rollout of One UI 5.0 for its devices in October. The new One UI version, which brings Android 13 to the Galaxy smartphone lineup, will be first available for the Galaxy S22 series. The company is already beta testing the new software for its latest flagships.
Samsung’s stable One UI 5.0 update may come in October
Samsung began beta testing One UI 5.0 for the Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+, and Galaxy S22 Ultra earlier this month. It recently release the second beta build with several new features and bug fixes. The company also expanded the beta software to more regions, covering interested users in India and the UK.
Shortly after the release of One UI 5.0 Beta 2, rumors started circulating that the stable update will arrive in October. More precisely, Korean tipster SuperRoader is claiming that Galaxy S22 users will start getting the big Android update on October 17 or October 19, i. e. the third week of October. If true, this would mean Samsung will publicly release One UI 5.0 about a month earlier than Android 12-based One UI 4.0 last year.
Despite the stable rollout beginning in mid-November, Samsung had shipped the One UI 4.0 update to most eligible flagships model by the end of last year. It should be safe to assume that the One UI 5.0 update will come even sooner. Many Galaxy A series mid-rangers may also pick up Android 13 before we enter 2023. The likes of the Galaxy A53 and Galaxy A73 should be the first to get the update in this segment.
If anything, this is a testament to Samsung’s continually improving software game. It’s a sharp turnaround by the world’s largest smartphone maker that had a bad reputation for slow software updates not too long ago. It is now arguably the best in the business. Well. the Korean behemoth’s pace with monthly security updates is unmatched in the Android space.
The beta program should soon open for more Galaxies
It’s been about three weeks since Samsung released the first One UI 5.0 beta build for the Galaxy S22 series. The company recently followed up with another release. There are indications that the firm will soon open the beta program for more Galaxy smartphones. The Galaxy S21 series should be the next in the pipeline, along with the company’s third-gen foldables, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 and the Galaxy Z Flip 3.
