Nowadays, there are plenty of options to back up our data on our devices. Google lets you back up your phone’s data, and it will soon allow the same thing for Wear OS. According to an APK deep dive by 9To5Google, it appears that the Wear OS backups feature may really come in handy.

As the name suggests, this feature will back up the data that you accrue on your Wear OS device. You can expect the Pixel Watch to get top priority. Since we’re talking about an APK deep dive, you’ll want to take this information with the greatest assault.

Companies typically hide future features within the code of current app versions. The Google Camera app has code in it for the Pixel Tablet, and that device is not coming until next year. This means that the company can take the code out at any moment, so you don’t want to take this information to heart.

The Wear OS backups feature could save a lot of your watch’s data

As smartwatches become more sophisticated, we move more of our lives into them. We customized them to our liking, and that includes configurations, watch faces, and tiles. So, if something happens to our watch, and we have to get another one, it’s a long process doing it all over again.

This is where the Wear OS backups future comes in. What this future will do is save your data to the cloud, periodically so that you can download it onto a new watch. This feature will back up your app data, device settings, watch faces, and tiles. That’s pretty much everything that will need to be backed up.

So, if you picked the perfect watch face and customized it to your liking, or if you found the perfect combination of tiles to compliment your work life, you won’t have to worry. Also, you won’t have to reassign your saved Wi-Fi connections.

This future was discovered in the Google Play services app version 22.42.12. This is the latest version of the app.

As you can expect, your data will be backed up through Google One. Unless you downloaded a ton of tiles to your watch, your watch data shouldn’t eat too much into your cloud storage.

We’re not sure when the Wear OS backups feature will officially come out. We’ll have to keep an eye on this story to see when Google plans to officially announce it.
