Even though Netflix doesn’t like it, you are allowed to let other people use your account. Until Netflix starts really cracking down on password-sharing, people are likely to have multiple profiles under one account. For the folks who want to keep track of who’s using their account and which devices they are using, Netflix is bringing a Manage Access and Devices feature.

Moving off of someone’s account can be a hassle. While Netflix did introduce an easy way to transfer your profile to a new account, some people remain latched onto their parent account. This can be problematic, especially if said person is an unwelcome guest.

Say, that person is an ex or a friend that you’re just tired of mooching off of your account. It can be a hassle getting people off of your account without deleting it altogether and starting anew.

This is why Netflix is bringing the Manage Access and Devices feature

This news comes to us from a Netflix blog post. The short and sweet post cites the holiday season as a good case for this new addition. Many people are going to be traveling for the holidays, and this means that they’ll be logging into their accounts at different locations. Oftentimes, people forget to log out. They, unfortunately, leave their accounts open for strangers to access.

This is why the Netflix Manage Access and Devices feature will come in handy. When you go to your account settings, you’ll see the new button. Tapping on it will show you a page with the most recent devices that you used your Netflix account with.

There’s a lot of information on this simple-looking page, actually. For starters, you’ll see the name of the device on which you used your Netflix account. Under that, you’ll see whose profile was being used, and it will let you know if this happened recently.

Under that, you’ll see the date, exact time, and the location your account was accessed. It’s not an exact location, however. As you can see in the screenshot, it will say that it’s near a location.

Last but not least, you will see the IP address of the user who watched the content.
This is perfect if you see a device that you don’t recognize using your account. Also, if you do temporarily log in at a location and forget to log out, you’ll be able to see if someone came in and accessed your account in your absence.

You’ll be able to log people out of your account by force

In the event that someone does access your account that you don’t want, then you’ll have the option to kick them out. Right next to the device’s name on the Manage Access and Devices page, you will see a sign-out button.

This feature is currently available, so you should be able to see it when you go to your settings. If not, be sure to update your app.
