You no longer have to wait for Pixel Watch updates

You no longer have to wait for Pixel Watch updates, as there’s a trick that makes them instantly available. As most of you know, updates usually roll out in stages. So, it may take a while for you to get them. Well, in the case of the Pixel Watch, that’s not the case, as there’s a trick that can force them to become available right away.

You can now force Pixel Watch updates to arrive immediately

This was spotted by 9to5Google. So, how can you take advantage of this? Well, all you have to do is open the Settings app, scroll down to ‘System’ at the bottom, and open ‘System updates’. This is where the fun starts.

Once you’re in that menu, on the “Your watch is up to date” screen, keep tapping the top watch icon that has a checkmark icon at the center. You can slowly tap it, or you can repeatedly press it. After a couple of seconds, the screen will refresh, and the update will start downloading.

Some of you may know that this was also possible on Wear OS 2. Google still didn’t kill it, so there you go. Considering that it’s still around, it may even be here to stay.

Disabling Bluetooth will force Wi-Fi on the watch to download updates faster

Now, the source did remind us of another trick that you may not be aware of. You can disable Bluetooth (Settings -> Connectivity) to speed up the download of the update. That way you will force Wi-Fi on your watch to kick in, and speed up the update considerably.

It would be nice to have a feature like this on Pixel smartphones as well, that’s for sure. Most people don’t mind waiting a couple of days, or even weeks for an update. There are those of you who want to get them as soon as possible, so… it would be nice to have a workaround like that.
