Samsung has released the Android 13 update for the US versions of the Galaxy A13 5G. The big Android update is also available for the 4G version of the phone and the Galaxy M12 in some markets. The company plans to upgrade all eligible Galaxy devices to Android 13 before the end of this year.

Samsung updates more Galaxy devices to Android 13

The Galaxy A13 5G started getting the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update earlier this month. The rollout began in Europe and soon expanded to Asia, Africa, Australia, and Latin America. Samsung has now released the update in the US and Canada as well. The carrier-locked variants of the Galaxy A13 5G in the US are getting the update with firmware version A136USQU3CVK9 while that for the Canadian units is A136WVLU3CVK9 (via). Like in other markets, this release contains the November security patch. The phone isn’t getting the December SMR (Security Maintenance Release) anywhere.

Meanwhile, the 4G-only Galaxy A13 has started getting the Android 13 update in Samsung’s homeland South Korea with a firmware version A135NKSU2BVL2. This phone also arrived in the US. The big Android update for it should reach stateside in the coming weeks. The international versions should also join the party soon. The Korean release bundles the November SMR and we don’t expect that to change in other markets. Since the Galaxy A13 and Galaxy A13 5G are only eligible for quarterly security updates, these phones may never get the December SMR. Samsung will skip a few security releases for it.

The same is true for the Galaxy M12 as well. It will also only get quarterly security updates. And as we speak, Samsung is seeding the November SMR to this budget model along with Android 13. The big Android update is available for users in Europe and South Korea. The updated firmware versions in the two regions are M127FXXU3CVL2 and M127NKOU3CVL2, respectively. The rollout is somewhat limited but Samsung should soon pick up the pace. This device didn’t arrive in the US but the company did sell it in Asia and Africa. Users in those markets should get the update soon.

Samsung plans to seed Android 13 to all eligible models this year

Samsung began rolling out Android 13 for its Galaxy smartphones and tablets in late October. It picked up the pace in early November and hasn’t looked back since. In about two months, the company has updated almost all eligible devices, at least in some markets. Only a few budget models are left now. Samsung plans to seed the new Android version to those before the end of this year and it appears to be on track. We will keep you posted.
