Google has published new Android distribution numbers via Android Studio, which reveal that Android 13 is installed on 5.2% of all Android devices at this point. Do note that Android 13 launched six months ago.

Android 13 is now installed on 5.2% of Android devices out there

This is the first update that Google provided on the matter since August last year. The company used to be far more frequent with such updates in the past, but that’s no longer the case.

So, Android 13 is installed on 5.2% of devices. Android 12 and 12L are running on 18.9% of all Android devices. Android 12 and 12L presence increased quite a bit from the 13.5% that we reported back in August.

On the other hand, Android Oreo now stands at 10%, while Android KitKat dropped to 0.7%, from the 0.9% it held back in August. Android Jelly Bean is no longer listed here, by the way. It previously had a 0.3% share.

Now, a 5.2% share for Android 13 may not seem like a lot, but considering how many Android devices are out there, some would say that’s not a bad start for Google’s latest version of Android.

Many mainstream devices got the update already

Many mainstream flagships and even mid-range smartphones got the update. That goes for phones from the most prolific Android OEMs out there, of course. Samsung, OnePlus, ASUS, OPPO, Vivo, and various other companies are doing a really good job with updates. Some are better than others, of course.

For those of you who want to bring iOS into the conversation, there’s really no point. Apple makes iOS for its own devices only, and not that many of them, compared to what we’re looking at in the Android world. So comparing the distribution numbers between platforms really makes no sense whatsoever.
