Samsung is rolling out the January 2023 Android security patch to several more Galaxy smartphones. The Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Fold 3, Galaxy Z Flip 3, and Galaxy S10 Lite are all receiving this month’s security update. The new SMR (Security Maintenance Release) has already reached over a dozen other Galaxy devices.

The January SMR for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 is currently available in Europe. The update is rolling out in the region with firmware version F936BXXS1BWA2. The package doesn’t contain anything apart from the latest vulnerability fixes, which isn’t surprising since the device recently received Android 13. Samsung should expand this update to more markets, including the US, in the coming days.

Meanwhile, if you’re using the 2021 Fold model, the January update is already available more widely. The latest security patch for the Galaxy Z Fold 3 is available in Europe and a few Latin American countries, including Argentina, Brazil, and Uruguay. The updated firmware version for this phone is F926BXXS2DWA3. It expectedly doesn’t contain any new features or improvements. The update is all about security fixes. The US versions haven’t picked up this release yet.

The story for the Galaxy Z Flip 3 is somewhat similar too. Samsung has once again begun the rollout in Europe. The new firmware version for this 2021 clamshell foldable is F711BXXS3DWA3. And we may be sounding repetitive, but it should just be a matter of time before Samsung goes global with this update for the Galaxy Z Flip 3. Don’t expect any major user-facing changes, though. The device isn’t getting more than the January SMR.

The Galaxy S10 Lite is also getting the January 2023 security update

The Galaxy S10 Lite is another Samsung device that recently started picking up the January security patch. The rollout for this affordable flagship has begun in Spain with firmware version G770FXXS6HWA2 (via). Over the next few days, the company should release this update in the rest of the European countries and expand it to other markets, including the US. There are no new features here as well. Once again, we are only getting this month’s vulnerability fixes.

If you’re using any of these Samsung smartphones, the latest security update should be available to you soon unless it already has. It patches more than 70 vulnerabilities, including dozens of high-severity ones. These include security patches part of Google’s latest ASB (Android Security Bulletin) and some Galaxy-specific ones. You can check for updates from the Settings app on your phone.
