Huawei may bring back its P series flagship-grade phones in Q1 this year. According to a new rumor, the Huawei P60 and P60 Pro will launch in March this year. They’re expected to offer improved cameras, displays, and more.

The Huawei P60 series may finally launch in March, and deliver improved cameras

Before we get into it, it’s worth noting that the Huawei P50 series is over a year old at this point. The Huawei P50 launched in August 2021. The Huawei Mate 50 Pro is the company’s current flagship, a phone which launched a couple of months ago, in September last year.

Having said that, this new rumor does detail some changes the P60 series will bring. The Huawei P60 Pro is tipped to include a 6.6-inch QHD+ (3200 x 1440) OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. It will offer high frequency PWM dimming (1,920Hz). That display will be provided by BOE, and it will include a 32-megapixel camera on it (hole punch).

A 50-megapixel main camera (Sony’s IMX888 sensor) will sit on the back of the phone. A 50-megapixel ultrawide camera (Sony’s IMX858) will sit back there too. The third camera will be a 64-megapixel telephoto unit (OmniVision’s OV64B sensor).

The regular Huawei P60 will come with a different setup, at least when it comes to the main and telephoto cameras. Its main camera will be a 52-megapixel unit (Sony’s IMX789 sensor, 1.12um pixel size), while a 16-megapixel telephoto camera will also sit on the back. The ultrawide unit will be the same as on the ‘Pro’ model.

Huawei’s XMAGE camera system will be included too

Huawei’s XMAGE system, which debuted on the Huawei Mate 50 Pro, will be included. The Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 is tipped to fuel the Huawei P50 Pro. Do note that the phone will support 4G connectivity, not 5G, due to the US ban.

The ‘Pro’ model will feature a 5,500mAh battery, with 100W wired charging, and 50W wireless charging. We’re not sure about the Huawei P60, as it was not mentioned.

Both smartphones are tipped to offer an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. If there’s any truth to this rumor, more info will surely follow in the near future.
