OnePlus has been shipping its flagship smartphones with slower charging speeds in the US than in the rest of the world for the past few years. It will be no different for the OnePlus 11, it seems. The device debuted in China earlier this month with 100W fast wired charging. But the US model will reportedly top out at 80W of charging speed.
Two different sources have recently claimed that the OnePlus 11 will arrive with 80W charging support in the US. Popular Twitter tipster SnoopyTech (@_snoopytech_) first suggested that the phone will ship with a slower charging speed globally outside China. But they later clarified that they were talking about the US version only, something that another noted tipster Max Jambor (@MaxJmb) also confirmed. The device will get 100W charging support everywhere else, including in Europe. OnePlus cites differences in the US electrical systems for this.
An 80W charging speed for a phone isn’t slow by any means. The OnePlus 11 would still charge faster than most other flagship smartphones sold in the US. Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S23 series will top out at 45W, while Apple’s iPhone 14 series doesn’t even reach that figure. But OnePlus users would have earned even bigger bragging rights if the company treated its phones with the same level of charging speed in the US as in the rest of the world. The US version of the OnePlus 10 Pro tops out at 65W charging (80W globally). Likewise, the OnePlus 10T is limited to 125W, against 150W in other markets.
The OnePlus 11 may get more amount of RAM in the US
On the brighter side, the latest OnePlus flagship may arrive with more amount of RAM in the US than in some other markets. The OnePlus 11 is available in 12GB and 16GB RAM options in China. While the company isn’t going over that stateside, there are reports that some markets will only get 8GB of RAM. If true, the US version will be on par with the model that launched in China a couple of weeks back. We are expecting 256GB and 512GB storage options.
Other key specs of the OnePlus 11 include the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor, a Dolby Vision-enabled 6.7-inch QHD+ AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 1,300 nits of brightness, a 50MP primary rear camera with Hasselblad collaboration, a 16MP selfie camera, IP68 water resistance, stereo speakers, an optical under-display fingerprint scanner, and Android 13. The phone will launch globally on February 7. Its US pricing is not known yet.
