Google is set to hit us with its first in-house tablet in years, and Pixel fans are stoked. We’re covering an increasing stream of leaks and rumors on this device, and the latest whisper tells us something interesting about it. According to Kuba Wojciechowski on Twitter, the Pixel Tablet will actually come with two different options for docks.
Google introduced us to the Pixel Tablet during Google I/O 2022, and it gave us some more information during the Pixel event in October. This will be the Pixel phone equivalent for tablets. It will have the purest version of Android formatted for tablets.
The Pixel Tablet may come with two docks
One of the most interesting features of this device will be its ability to attach to a dock. This will essentially turn it into a smart display. We’re not 100% sure how this will look, but we expect the tablet to enter a docked mode where you’ll have hands-free access to certain features just like a smart display.
As for the dock itself, the tablet has connector pins on the back that it will use to connect to the dock. Once attached, the dock will also act as a power supply. Rumors pointed to there being more than one dock, and it seems that this could be true.
As with any rumor, you’ll want to take this with a grain of salt. According to the rumor, there will be two dock options that you can pick up with the tablet. The first and least expensive option will just charge the tablet. The second option will charge the tablet, and it will also act as a speaker. So, using the first option, you’ll be relying on the tablet’s speakers.
Other details about the Pixel tablet are still speculative. We expect it to have a 10.95-inch display with a resolution of 2560 x 1600. As for the internals, it looks like it will use the Google Tensor G2 chip, have up to 256GB of storage, and have between 8GB and 12GB of RAM.
This table will launch with Android 13 out of the box with all of the new tablet optimizations for Android. We’re still waiting on information on the price, but we should definitely get a leak before the official launch.
