Samsung‘s Android 13-based One UI 5.0 rollout has been phenomenal. It updated more than 60 Galaxy smartphones and tablets to the new Android version within two months. And it appears the company will maintain this impressive run in the future as well. The Korean firm is already readying One UI 5.1, which will debut on the Galaxy S23 series next month, for multiple older Galaxy devices. It was spotted testing One UI 5.1 for the Galaxy S22 series last week. Samsung is now testing the updated One UI version for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 as well.

Samsung is readying One UI 5.1 for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 with firmware version F936NKSU1CVLH, SamMobile reports. The model number (F936N) suggests that internal testing is underway in South Korea. The “C” towards the end of the build number, meanwhile, confirms it will be the second feature update for the new foldable. The device debuted running Android 12L-based One UI 4.1.1 in August last year (identified by AV**). A few months later, it picked up the Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update (BV**). It’s worth noting that the build number may vary slightly in other markets.

Not much is known about the new features that will be part of Samsung’s One UI 5.1 update, though. The company hinted at more lock screen customization options a few months back. Android 13’s new media player notification widget and Predictive Back Gesture, which Google will offer by default on Android 14, could also be part of the new One UI version. With the Galaxy S23 launch less than a month away, we will find out soon.

Samsung will debut One UI 5.1 on the Galaxy S23 series

One UI 5.1 is a minor upgrade for Samsung’s custom Android skin. It is still based on Android 13 but will bring a few new features that don’t exist on One UI 5.0. The updated version will debut on the Galaxy S23 series early next month. The company has made it a habit to launch new flagships with a new version of its custom software.

However, it may not take much long for Samsung to roll out One UI 5.1 to eligible older Galaxy models. The likes of Galaxy S22, Galaxy S21, Galaxy Z Fold 4, and Galaxy Z Flip 4 should all get this update. We will let you know when those updates arrive. In the meantime, stay tuned for Samsung’s Galaxy S23 launch. The new flagships will reportedly break cover on February 1, with sales beginning a few weeks later.
