It’s official. Samsung is holding its first Unpacked event of 2023 on February 1. It’ll start at 10AM PT/1PM ET.

This is going to be an in-person event, but it will still be live-streamed, just as Samsung has always done. Even before the pandemic. That means that we could get some surprises, as Samsung will finally have the media back in-person, and that is typically when companies like to show off new products. And not just a new iterative smartphone. At the last in-person Unpacked, we got the Galaxy Z Flip, which was sort of a surprise.

So far, we do know that we will be getting the Galaxy S23 at this event, which has been leaking quite a bit, as you might expect. There have been some rumors that the Galaxy S23 would be getting a price bump. This wouldn’t be surprising, after the Galaxy S22 remained the same price last year, amid a chip shortage and rampant inflation. It’s still cheaper than the Galaxy S20 family was back in 2020, before the pandemic began.

The good news for the Galaxy S23 this year is, that it’ll be all-in on Snapdragon 8 Gen 2. Rumors have pointed to Samsung sticking with Snapdragon worldwide for this phone, instead of using its own Exynos chipsets. So those in Europe and some parts of Asia are going to rejoice.

You can reserve your Galaxy S23 now

As Samsung has done for the past few years, you can actually reserve your Galaxy S23 now, through February 1. If you sign up for Reserve on Samsung.com or the Shop Samsung App, you will be eligible to receive one of two offers:

  • $50 Samsung Credit when you pre-order one device.
  • $100 Samsung Credit when you pre-order two devices.

As always, there is no commitment here for customers. So you can reserve your Galaxy S23 and never actually pre-order or buy a Galaxy S23.

Samsung is also reminding everyone that Samsung.com offers the highest trade-in value for Galaxy devices. Which should be the case since it is their devices.
