Now the progress bar at first glance comes with just the gray color and doesn’t have the buffer indicator. That remains the case until you tap on the idle video interface to see more details. Once the interface is woken up with a tap, the red progress bar and grey buffer indicator can be seen.

This feature may help reduce distraction while Android users watch videos in portrait orientation. But there are some restrictions with this new design for the progress bar. For now, not everyone has access to this unique design on their YouTube app.
