After an unusually lengthy delay, Samsung has finally released the Android 13 update for the Galaxy A51 5G in the US. The big Android update is now available for the factory-unlocked units of the phone. The carrier-locked counterparts shouldn’t be too far behind. The new Android version, which also bundles Samsung’s One UI 5.0 custom software, has already reached the mid-range smartphone in most international markets. The Galaxy A51 4G has received Android 13 globally, including in the US.

Samsung finally updates the US versions of Galaxy A51 5G to Android 13

The Galaxy A51 5G was one of the first mid-range Galaxy smartphones to receive Android 13. Samsung started seeding the big Android update to the phone in late November last year. Following the initial rollout in Europe, the company gradually covered the phone with the new Android version in other markets too. However, it never reached the US. Users stateside were kept waiting for two whole months. The Korean firm has finally ended that wait, though only for those with an unlocked unit.

The Android 13-based One UI 5.0 update for unlocked Galaxy A51 5G phones in the US comes with the firmware build number A516U1UEU8FWA4 (via). The rollout began recently but has already reached units on a handful of networks, including Verizon, Comcast, and Xfinity Mobile. Samsung should cover units on the remaining networks over the next few days. As said before, it should also soon release Android 13 for the carrier-locked versions of the Galaxy A51 5G in the US.

This update contains plenty of goodies for the Galaxy A51 5G. You’re getting tons of new features and improvements that are part and parcel of the latest Android version as well as Samsung’s One UI 5.0. Samsung has slightly tweaked the UI by making the app icons a little bolder and giving them subtle gradient backgrounds. It has also improved system animations and transitions to make for a smoother navigation experience. There are some accessibility, privacy, and security improvements as well.

On top of these goodies, the Galaxy A51 5G is also getting a host of vulnerability fixes. It isn’t the latest security patch, though. In fact, it’s not even last month’s release. Samsung is only pushing the December 2022 patch. Nonetheless, there’s plenty to look forward to in this update. If you’re using this phone in the US, the big update should be available to you anytime now. Go to Settings > Software update and tap on Download and install to check for new updates.
