The February 2023 Android security patch is available for Samsung‘s Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 foldables in the US. The rollout began today for the factory-unlocked units. The latest security update should soon be available for the carrier-locked variants of the foldable duo as well. The devices haven’t received the new SMR (Security Maintenance Release) anywhere else.

This month’s security update patches more than 50 vulnerabilities. Seven of those are Galaxy-specific patches, with Samsung eliminating vulnerabilities in Secure Folder, Phone, Contacts, Fingerprint TA, and more system apps, services, and components. The rest of the patches are part of Google’s latest ASB (Android Security Bulletin). These include vulnerabilities in Android OS as well as other partner components from the likes of Qualcomm, MediaTek, and more. Every Android device featuring a compromised component is vulnerable.

All of these security fixes are now rolling out to unlocked units of the Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 in the US. The updated firmware build numbers for the foldable duo are F711U1UES3EWA6 and F926U1UES2EWA6, respectively. The rollout has already hit devices on most networks, including AT&T, T-Mobile, Verizon, Xfinity Mobile, Cricket Wireless, Bluegrass Cellular, Comcast, Dish, MetroPCS, and more. Samsung should release the new SMR for the carrier-locked variants soon. The latest security patch should also be available for the foldable duo in other markets within the next few days.

Samsung adds Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Fold 3 to its February update party

Samsung started pushing the February security update to its devices a few days back. The Galaxy Note 20 series was the first to get the new SMR. The company has since added a few other Galaxy models to the party, while simultaneously expanding the rollout to more markets. The Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 are the newest entrants as the Korean firm picks up the pace.

The latest security update should be available to the likes of the Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy Z Flip 4, Galaxy Z Fold 4, and more in the coming days. We will let you know when the rollout begins for these devices. Meanwhile, you can check for updates from the Settings app. Simply navigate to the Software update menu and tap on Download and install. Since updates are rolled out in batches, it may take a few days for the latest release to reach everyone. If you don’t see any updates today, check again a few days later.
