A new Motorola Razr just appeared online with a massive cover display, and we guess this is a next-gen model. Images of this phone have been shared by Evan Blass, a well-known tipster.
Next-gen Motorola Razr could have a massive cover display
The tipster did not mention this is the Motorola Razr 2023, or anything like that. All he wrote is “That’s quite a cover display”, while sharing three images of the device. Speaking of which, you can check out all those images in the gallery below the article.
As you can see, the entire front panel (when folded) of this phone is covered by the display. The panel even goes around the cameras, and an LED flash. If this ends up being true, this phone will trump even the OPPO Find N2 Flip when it comes to cover display size, by quite a margin.
The current-gen Motorola Razr allows you to do plenty with its cover display, which is not tiny. You can even write messages on it. It definitely has the most useful cover display out of all the clamshell foldables.
If Motorola ends up keeping that functionality, while also putting this display on the outside, well, it could have a winner on its hands. You’d be able to do a lot of things without even opening up the phone.
Some users may find this cover display implementation annoying
We can see how using it may be annoying, though, due to the cameras, and the LED flash. Motorola would have to adapt the UI so that it’s always aware of them, so that it can work around them, as it does in the provided images.
The Motorola Razr 5G launched in 2020, while the Motorola Razr 2022 arrived last year. Considering that Motorola opted not to release a Razr phone in 2021, it’s possible the company will skip 2023 as well.
If the device shown here really is a next-gen Razr foldable, well, then we may actually see it released this year. If that does end up happening, it’ll most likely arrive in August.
