Last year, Google launched the Pixel Watch, and it’s a really nice piece of wearable hardware. Just as smartphones need to have software updates, smartwatches also need updates. Google is rolling out the February security update to its first smartwatch according to 9To5Google.

The company also released the latest security update to the Pixel 4 phones. This marks the final update these phones will receive. The phone was released back in 2019, and it’s gotten the latest platform upgrades since then. If you’re a Pixel 4 user, then you’ll want to be on the lookout for the update.

This update is rolling out now, so you’ll want to keep an eye out for the OTA. Being a standard security update, there aren’t any user-facing changes or new features. It brings the watch up to the latest security level which makes the device more secure from hackers and other bad actors.

The update has the version number RWD9.220429.075 in the states and RWD9.220429.075.J1 in Japan and Taiwan. To check for the update, go to Settings > System > System updates. Your phone will then check for the update and download it if it’s available.

Should you pick up the Pixel Watch?

As said before, this device launched back in October last year, and it’s the company’s first smartwatch. Regardless, Google was able to do a good job with the watch. The Pixel Watch has a beautiful and premium design with a rounded screen.

This is the first watch to launch with pure Wear OS 3 loaded. The Galaxy Watch 4 was able to launch with it back in 2021, but that has Samsung’s own paint job applied to it. On the Galaxy Watch, we see Google’s vision for the software, and it’s a major improvement over Wear OS 2.

If you’re thinking of picking up this watch, you can order one here. The Pixel Watch is a pricey device, but it’s worth the money.
