Samsung has added three new channels to its free streaming service Samsung TV Plus. The Price is Right, Jamie Oliver, and Divorce Court channels are now available to watch for free in the US. To honor Women’s History Month in March, the service will also offer films featuring leading ladies of Hollywood on The Movie Hub and FilmRise Free Movies.

Samsung TV Plus is one of the best perks of owning a Samsung TV. The service gives you tons of free video content to watch, with new channels added regularly. It currently offers you access to more than 250 premium channels spanning news, sports, entertainment, auto, and other genres. And you can not only watch those channels on your Samsung TV, but on Galaxy smartphones, tablets, and on the web as well.

Of course, you’ll have to deal with some ads, which is where the company makes money from. But there’s hardly a place today where you don’t see ads. It’s unclear if Samsung ever plans to introduce a paid ad-free tier of Samsung TV Plus. It may arrive sometime in the future. But right now, the company appears to be focusing on improving the service and giving users more content to watch.

Samsung TV Plus may soon be available on TVs from other brands

Samsung TV Plus is currently exclusive to the Korean firm’s TVs and Galaxy devices. But that exclusivity may not remain for much longer. The company may soon start offering the service on TVs from other brands.

It is reportedly in talks with brands like TCL to ship Samsung TV Plus pre-installed on the latter’s televisions. The tech biggie may also be looking for other potential partnerships.

Moreover, Samsung last year started licensing its open-source Tizen platform that powers its TVs to other manufacturers. The company named Akai, Bauhn, Linsar, Sunny, Vispera, and Axen as its early partners. As part of this licensing program, the Korean firm will give these brands access to its industry-leading smart features, apps, and other tools. It said that Samsung TV Plus will also come pre-installed on all Tizen-powered TVs.

All of these developments show that Samsung is taking steps to expand its Samsung TV Plus footprint. In August last year, the company revealed that the service was streamed nearly three billion hours over the past 12 months. This is sort of expected from it, though.

The Korean firm is the world’s largest maker of TVs and smartphones. It has led the global TV market for 17 consecutive years now. The company has been facing tough competition in the smartphone market lately but it has held onto the crown so far.
