While Samsung is almost done pushing Android 13 to eligible Galaxy devices, a Galaxy model is finally picking up Android 12. We are talking about the Galaxy A03 Core. The entry-level smartphone arrived in late 2021 running Android 11 out of the box. Today, the Korean firm is pushing its first major Android OS update to the device.

As of this writing, the Android 12 update for the Galaxy A03 Core is only available to users in Russia. It is rolling out with the firmware build number A032FXXU2BWC3 (via) and comes complete with the latest security patch (March 2023). Samsung should expand the rollout to more markets in the coming days. This device never made it to the US shores but was sold in many countries in Europe, Latin America, Africa, Australia, and Asia.

This update brings plenty of new features and improvements to the Galaxy A03 Core. The handset runs the Android Go edition, so it isn’t getting the full-fledged One UI 4 that other Galaxy devices received with their Android 12 updates. But there’s still a lot to be excited about here. From subtle UI changes to improved system apps, Samsung is pushing plenty of goodies to the entry-level smartphone here. After all, it’s a major Android update.

With the March SMR (Security Maintenance Release) in tow, the Galaxy A03 Core is also picking up the latest vulnerability fixes. The new security release contains more than 60 patches, at least five of which were labeled “critical” by Google. If you’re using this phone, watch out for a new update in the coming days. You can go to Settings > Software update and tap on Download and install to check for updates manually.

Samsung has yet to update the Galaxy A02 to Android 12

The Galaxy A03 Core may be late to the Android 12 party, but certainly not the last. Samsung still has at least one more Galaxy device awaiting the big Android update. The Galaxy A02 hasn’t received it yet, even though the Galaxy A02s has. The two devices debuted just a few weeks apart and came running Android 10 out of the box.

However, updates for the two haven’t come at a uniform pace. While the Galaxy A02s got Android 11 in May 2021, that for the Galaxy A02 arrived in September of that year. In July last year, the former picked up Android 12 as well. But the latter is still missing its second major Android OS update. It’s unclear what’s keeping Samsung from pushing Android 12 to the Galaxy A02. We will let you know as soon as we have more information.
