Xiaomi will announce its next-gen foldable phone in August this year, it seems. We are, of course, talking about the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3. This information comes from Digital Chat Station, a well-known Chinese tipster.
Next-gen Xiaomi foldable to launch in August this year
He’s not 100% sure about the information, but he did say that it will launch at a similar time as its predecessor. So, it could either be August, or close to it. Chances are it will be August, though.
The Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 will launch in China first, and maybe even stay exclusive to the market. The Xiaomi Mi MIX Fold and the MIX Fold 2 never made it to global markets. We are expecting Xiaomi to make that jump with the third-gen model, though.
Both OPPO and HONOR stepped into the global market with their foldables recently, so it’s about time Xiaomi does the same. Samsung needs competition, and Xiaomi can certainly provide it.
The Xiaomi MIX Fold 2 is still the thinnest book-style foldable on the market. The phone looks very appealing, and Xiaomi would certainly find interested parties to buy it in global markets.
We still don’t know what will the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 look like
We still don’t know what the MIX Fold 3 will look like, but Xiaomi will likely continue down the same path. We’re expecting a fairly large and thin phone, which folds flat, just like its predecessor.
The device is rumored to include LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 flash storage, while the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC may fuel it. It is expected to utilize two 120Hz displays, one foldable unit, and one cover panel.
Fast wired charging will be included, while it remains to be seen if Xiaomi plans to include wireless charging this time around. That would certainly make the phone a bit thicker, though.
