The best kind of AI is the kind that can make a company more money, it seems. According to a new report from Time, the addition of Snapchat My AI has added a million new subscribers to Snapchat+.
In case you don’t know what Snapchat+ is, it’s the company’s subscription service. Much like Twitter Blue, it grants the user access to exclusive features to make the monthly fee worth it. It’s basically a paid beta testing program, as new features arrive there first then trickle down to non-paying users later.

My AI added a million new Snapchat+ users
Paid subscribers always make up a small percentage of the user base as a whole. In the case of Snapchat+, it made up less than .3% of Snapchat’s daily active users. That’s to be expected, as most people don’t want to pay money on a platform that’s been free since the beginning.
The service just needed something to give it a little boost, and that something turns out to be its new AI chatbot. This is Snapchat’s AI chatbot that’s riding on the wings of ChatGPT. It heavily leverages ChatGPT’s chatting capabilities to come off as an actual human being. Thus, people are able to talk to it about pretty much anything.
In Snap’s latest partner summit, the company revealed that, over the past 11 weeks, Snapchat+ saw a growth of about a million users. This only proves that Snap struck gold with its AI chatbot. This growth actually exceeded the company’s expectations.
The company’s CEO, Evan Spiegel, stated “We never expected that we could grow to 3 million subscribers,” during an interview. With that, we can expect the company to continue to work on this AI chatbot. Also, we can’t rule out the company implementing AI into different areas of the Snapchat app.
