Different companies have their own versions of the same services, and that leads to a problem if you have to use both platforms. Integration between services with different companies isn’t common, but it does happen. Google just announced that Google Calendar will now be able to integrate more closely with Microsoft Outlook.

In the business World, it’s not uncommon to see people having to use different ecosystems. Google and Microsoft have some of the most robust office suites that you can use, and they have their respective star products. This means that it’s possible to find yourself caught up having to use both.

Google Calendar will integrate more closely with Outlook

The company announced this via a blog post. The company calls a Calendar Interop. It lets you make sure that the events you put on your Google Calendar account will sync with your Outlook account. So, if you have to use Microsoft Outlook for work but you have a Google account that you make your events with, it’ll be easy to use both Services.

In order to use Calendar Interop, it’s a bit of a setup process. You can read the setup process here. You might not be able to use this if you have a basic or free workspace plan. This is definitely for Enterprise users.

In other Google news, Google will start deleting inactive accounts

In a recent blog post, Google stated that it will start deleting inactive Google accounts starting December this year. If you have an account that you have not logged into or used in 2 years, then Google will delete that account along with all its data.

This data includes pictures in Google Photos, your emails, files in Google Drive, and other data. Your account will not be deleted if you’ve logged into it, downloaded an app onto a device using that account, used a device with that account logged in, read emails on that account, Etc.

Make sure to log into that account before December 2023 if you want to avoid having your account deleted.
