As per usual, we get tons of new Google-related info once Google I/O comes around. During this year’s developer’s conference, Google has plenty to say. Amongst its announcements, the company said that they’re making Google Search smarter than ever, courtesy of AI.

Google Search is about to get smarter than ever thanks to AI

Generative AI is coming to Google Search. The company said that it is trying to make Search both “smarter” and “simpler” by doing this.

What is Generative AI exactly? Well, you’ll get an AI block ‘Snapshot’ at the top of the page once you search for something. It’ll offer you a summary of your search results, providing relevant links and summaries of products, images, and more.

AI will also try to get data from actual users to share with you. That way, it’s trying to offer you the most relevant results up top, within the the AI ‘Snapshot’.

Below it, you’ll get your regular search results. That’s not all. Google also announced conversational mode, which will help you use the power of AI to narrow down results using natural language.

Generative AI will first be tested by users, and then rolled out to everyone

We’re not sure when exactly will this feature roll out, but Google did say “soon”, and shared some more info. This feature will first roll out to ‘Labs’f, as the waitlist will open today. It’ll be available via the Google app and Google.com on Chrome.

Google also added that first testers will get access to the feature in the coming weeks. So we still could be months away from actually using this feature, presuming we’re not testers, of course.

The more accurate search results we get, the better. If this summary will get us there, then great, but we need to see it in action. This, of course, won’t pop up every time, it all depends on what you search.
