There are only two more Pixel devices awaiting an announcement this year. These are the Pixel 8 and Pixel 8 Pro. While it’s still going to be several months until we get an official announcement, Android Authority has something to tide you over in the meantime. Here are the official Pixel 8 wallpapers.
Right now, we’re still waiting for the devices announced at Google I/O to finally ship. There’s been a delay with the Pixel Fold shipments. Those who pre-ordered the phone on day one won’t be getting their phone until sometime in early July. It gets worse depending on when you ordered your phone and which model you ordered. There are some people who won’t be getting their phones until sometime in late August.
Here are the official Pixel 8 wallpapers
With new phones come new wallpapers, and Google is keeping up with that tradition by introducing some new wallpapers with the Pixel 8 phones. the only thing is that we weren’t really supposed to see them just yet. However, that hasn’t stopped Android Authority from leaking them to the web.
Google contacted notable photographer Andrew Zuckerman to provide the wallpapers for the next batch of main Pixel devices. The theme here was minerals, and he was able to provide a total of 16 wallpapers. There are 8 sets, and each set has a wallpaper for the light theme and the dark theme.
They all look nice if you’re into different mineral formations. There are some examples below. However, if you’re looking to download high-quality versions of the wallpapers, click here.
Pixel 8 rumored specs
So far, we know a bit about these devices and what they’re going to offer when they launch. Here’s a rundown of the specs. Since these are just rumors at this point, you’ll want to take them with a grain of salt.
We expect the Pixel 8 and 8 Pro to come with the Tensor G3 SoC which will be an improvement over the G2 powering the Pixel 7a, Pixel Tablet, and Pixel Fold. This may be backed up by 8GB of RAM for the Pixel 8 and 12GB for the Pro.
Moving onto the displays, the regular Pixel 8 is expected to have a 6.17″ display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 and a 120Hz refresh rate. The Pro could have a 6.7″ display with a resolution of 2992 x 1344, a 120Hz refresh rate, and a peak brightness of 1600 nits. It might be able to drop down to as low as 5Hz when need be (the regular Pixel 8 might be able to drop to 10Hz).
Moving onto the camera, it’s said that the Pixel 8 Pro will replace its 12MP Sony IMX386 with a 64MP Sony IMX787. The other camera could stay the same.
We expect Google to officially announce these phones during the next Pixel event happening in the fall. Until then, we expect to get more information about these phones.
