The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is more durable than Samsung lets on

Durability quickly became the most important aspect of foldable phones, and companies making these phones have come a long way in that department. Back in 2019, foldable phones were being killed off by grains of sand. Now, with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5, the company is showing us how durable a foldable can be, according to Sam Mobile.

The Galaxy Z Flip 5 is more durable than Samsung said so

All companies hype up the durability of their phones, and that’s especially true for foldable phones. Samsung made a ton of claims about how sturdy the Galaxy Z Flip 5 is. It’s rated to survive more than 200,000 open/close cycles. Well, Youtuber Mrkeybrd is currently performing a test to see how many times you can open and close the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Motorola Razr+.

Well, the Razr+ gave in at 126,364 fips with the screen actually breaking. The Galaxy Z Flip is still going strong with more than 287,600 flips. That’s already about 127% more flips than the Moto.

It doesn’t stop there, as the testers decided to take the phone into extreme temperatures. Samsung says that you should keep your phone at room temperature in order to get the most amount of flips. That’s about 77°F (25°C). However, the testers exposed the phone to a heater bringing the temperature up to 162.8°F (73°C). That’s hot enough to cook chicken and well above the temperature you’d want to find yourself. However, the phone continued going. In fact, as of the time of writing this article, the test is still going on with the Galaxy Z Flip 5 not even breaking a sweat.

If you’re deciding between either of these phones, you’ll know that the Galaxy is more durable. However, it doesn’t mean that the Motorola Razr+ is a slouch. This phone was well-received, and a powerful contender for the price. You can read our review here.
