Xiaomi has just announced its newest foldable smartphone, the MIX Fold 3. This handset got presented during a press event in China, and it’s the lightest and thinnest foldable the company released thus far.

The Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 has a lot to offer, not only is it light and thin, but it’s also immensely powerful, and features a truly capable camera setup. There are four cameras included on its back, along with Leica support. This is also the first foldable smartphone to offer four rear cameras.
The phone does resemble its predecessor to a degree, but it’s easy to set them apart. There are some subtle differences all around, and a major difference on the back. The entire camera island on the MIX Fold 3 looks different. It does look quite nice, though. There are four cameras on the left, and Leica branding next to them, along with an LED flash and belonging sensors.
The bezels around both of the phone’s displays are quite minimal. There is a display camera hole centered on the cover display, it’s also included on the main display. The main panel has a display camera hole in the top-left corner.
It is rated for up to 500,000 folds
Xiaomi says that the phone is rated for up to 500,000 folds, which is outstanding. It also has a 3-element connecting rod structure for the hinge, and we’re looking at 1,800 MPa ultra-high stainless steel in terms of build materials, in addition to caron ceramic steel. There are 14 micro hinges included on the inside, and 198 rotating shaft components.
The phone features an 8.03-inch main display. That is a QHD+ foldable AMOLED display, which offers a 120Hz refresh rate. It also gets immensely bright at 2,600 nits. The cover display measures 6.56 inches, and it’s also an AMOLED panel. That display has a fullHD+ resolution, and also supports a 120Hz refresh rate, in addition to 1,300 nits max brightness.
Qualcomm’s most powerful processor fuels the phone, while 50W wireless charging is supported
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC fuels the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3. Xiaomi uses the overclocked version of that chip, the most powerful one available. You will also find up to 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM here, and up to 1TB of UFS 4.0 flash storage. Do note that the storage is not expandable.
A 4,800mAh battery sits on the inside of the phone, while the device supports 67W wired, and 50W wireless charging. Yes, the charger is included in the box, in case you were wondering. Android 13 comes pre-installed on the phone, along with MIUI Fold.
A 50-megapixel main camera (f/1.77 aperture, 23mm lens, Sony’s IMX800 sensor, 2.0um pixel size, OIS) sits on the back of the phone, and it’s backed by a 13-megapixel ultrawide camera (f/2.2 aperture, 15mm lens, 5P lens, 120-degree FoV). On top of that, you’ll also find a 10-megapixel telephoto camera (f/2.0 aperture, 75mm lens, 3.2x optical zoom, OIS, 5P lens), and a 10-megapixel periscope telephoto unit (f/2.92 aperture, 115mm lens, 5x optical zoom, 4P lens, OIS).
It comes in three variants in Xiaomi’s homeland
The pricing of the Xiaomi MIX Fold 3 in China starts at CNY8,999 ($1,239). That variant comes with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Models with 16GB of RAM are also available, and they offer 512GB and 1TB of storage, respectively. Those two models are priced at CNY9,999 ($1,377) and CNY10,999 ($1,514), respectively. It comes in three color options, all of which you can check out below.
The phone measures 161.2 x 143.28 x 5.26mm when unfolded. When folded, it measures 161.2 x 73.5 x 10.86/10.96mm (depending on the variant). We’re still not sure if this handset will make its way to global markets. Its predecessor did not.
