After a series of backlash from their customers, Zoom AI training is receiving a major refinement. Previously, the company had plans to access its users’ content for usage in training its AI feature. The video conferencing service provider announced this bizarre plan a few months ago.

This plan of the company will turn a lot of heads considering that it’s put to use across the world. Businesses in various industries and of varying sizes rely on Zoom for their online meetings. Due to privacy concerns, users had to kick against this plan, considering that it might mean giving up their privacy for the training of an AI feature.

Users found this creepy requirement on Zoom’s terms of service page. Before the change, the terms of service page gave the ‘assurance’ that Zoom will not access users’ content without their consent. Regardless of this assurance, the requirement to access users’ content still got a lot of backlash, leading to its change.

The Zoom AI training gets a major change after backlash concerning the usage of user content

In an official statement, Zoom announced that it would be changing its terms of service. According to the company, it is making this update as a result of the backlash it has been getting from its users. The said terms of service got a major update on August 11 where the company reconsiders its take on how it intends to train its AI features.

Currently, the brand has two AI tools, namely Zoom IQ Meeting Summary and the Zoom IQ Chat Compose. These features are on the ground to help users experience during their meeting sessions. One offers automated meeting summaries while the other offers users AI-driven chat composition which is handy during meetings.

Considering the training of these two AI models, Zoom previously had plans to rely on users’ content. This plan sent chills down the spines of Zoom users in various parts of the world. This was a threat to their privacy during meetings as Zoom might make use of data gathered from these meetings to train its AI feature.

But the company has made the necessary changes to the previous terms of service. Now, the company assures users that it will not make use of its content to train any of its AI features. In the new terms of service, Zoom says that it “does not use any” of users’ content to train an AI model.

With this update, users can more freely make use of the AI features that Zoom offers. Also, the company has made updates to its in-product notices to reflect the terms of service updates. So, if you use Zoom for your online meetings, you can more freely make use of the tools available with peace of mind.
