Android 14 is soon to make it to the stable channel, and third-party OEMs are getting ready to beta test their own takes on the software. OnePlus’ Android skin is called OxygenOS, and the company just announced some good news for its fans. The OxygenOS 14 beta was just released for the OnePlus 11.

The OxygenOS 14 beta just landed on the OnePlus 11
At the time of the writing of this article, the beta is only available in the US and Indian markets. However, it’s going to make its way to more regions soon. In order to upgrade your phone to the beta, it needs to be on OxygenOS 13.1 with the build number CPH2451_13.1.0.590(EX01).
This update to Android 14 will bring some notable changes to the look and functionality of the software, but it might not be a huge overhaul. You can expect some changes to the Aquamorphic design of the software. UI elements will have a different look compared to OxygenOS 13.
With this new look, users will also get some new Auquamorphic ringtones, which are always nice. Also, the update will revamp the system notifications.
Moving onto functionality, the update will bring some software optimizations that will make apps launch quicker. Also, it will update the photo and video-related permission management. This makes it so that you have more control over what apps have access to your media.
Lastly, the update will bring a carbon tracking AOD (always-on display). This will tell you the carbon emissions you’re avoiding by walking to your destinations.
How to install the beta
Updating the software won’t be quite as easy as on a Pixel phone. In order to install the update, you’ll need to download the ROM file from the OnePlus Community page. Make sure you download the right one for your region.
When you download the file, go to your settings navigate to the About Device page, and go to Version. There, tap on the Build Number button seven times. Enter your phone’s password and this will enable the developer mode.
Go back to the About device page and go to Up to date. Tap on the top right button and tap on Local Install. Your phone will locate the file that you want to install. Tap on the correct file and tap on Extract, Upgrade, then System Upgrade. When your phone is done, restart it. When your phone turns on, it will be running OxygenOS 14. Voilà!
