It seems like some Google Pixel 6 units that are running multiple profiles are experiencing considerable issues. This is happening after the Android 14 update, by the way. Phones with Android 13 seem to be working just fine.

Some Google Pixel 6 units with multiple profile set up are experiencing considerable problems

In any case, one bug that started appearing has to do with losing access to internal storage. Needless to say, this basically means you lose all the data that you have stored on the device. That’s not the only bug that appeared, though. Some users have reported repeated UI launcher crashes.

Those issues have started appearing out of the blue after the Android 14 update. Someone managed to figure out what all those phones have in common, though. They’re running multiple user profiles.

The Verge tried to replicate the problem on the Pixel 6a, as it seems like all Pixel 6 series devices are having issues. The company’s writer did not manage to lock himself out of internal storage, but he did experience multiple crashes.

A part of the problem was spotted on Android 14 Beta too

He managed to get the “System UI isn’t responding” error. That only happened on the second user profile he opened, however, when he reverted back to the original one, everything was fine. One thing to note is that he’s running Android 14 Beta, not Android 14 stable.

The source also tried to reach out to Google for a comment, but did not get one in time. It’s possible Google will reply in the near future, though, and hopefully fix the problem that started happening.

Luckily, it’s not happening to everyone, at least it doesn’t seem like it. The vast majority of people are also not using multiple user profiles, so many of them are in the clear. We’ve seen many such bugs on the Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro, too many. So let’s hope Google will fix this one soon.
