When is the Pixel Watch getting Wear OS 4?

Is the Pixel Watch getting an update to Wear OS 4? If so when is that happening? There’s both good and bad news here. But it’s not as bad as you might be anticipating.

Google has confirmed that the Pixel Watch be getting an update to Wear OS 4. So users can rest easy knowing that the software update is coming. Much like older Pixel devices that are still getting updates will get the update to the latest version of Android. However, Google has not confirmed a release date for the software update yet. Google says there’s currently no release schedule for current devices when it comes to the update. So for now it’s simply a waiting game.

All things considered though, it seems unlikely the wait will be too long. Wear OS 4 has been out for Samsung’s Galaxy Watch devices for a little while at this point. So the software is ready in some capacity. Unfortunately Google hasn’t shared any details that could hint at a possible time frame. So any mentions of one would simply be guessing. With that said, you can for sure get access to it right away by upgrading. That’s not the cost-effective way to go about things. But if you aren’t one for waiting then it is a surefire way to be on the new software version.

What to expect with Wear OS 4 on the Pixel Watch

Really you should be expecting just about everything that’s available on the Pixel Watch 2. There aren’t any Pixel Watch 2-specific features for the most part. Except for some watch faces that were designed specifically for the Pixel Watch 2. All other features should be available with the update in due time. Google also notes that the Pixel Watch 2-specific watch faces are being evaluated for the original Pixel Watch. So there is a chance you will end up getting those as well. When is another story.

It also shouldn’t be surprising if Wear OS 4 on the Pixel Watch looks just about the same as it does on the Pixel Watch 2. Considering there are a lot of similarities between the two devices.
