Today marks the official launch day for the GeForce RTX 4070 Ti Super GPU that NVIDIA announced earlier this month. For some, it might not be a big enough upgrade to warrant the cost. But if you’re one of the PC gamers who are still working with an RTX 3070 or a different card that’s equal to or less powerful than that particular card, then you probably want to consider buying NVIDIA’s new hardware. At the very least it’s worth looking at.
NVIDIA promises some significant performance gains over the RTX 3070 Ti which means it should be quite a bit better than the non-Ti model. “The GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER is 1.6X faster than the GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, and 2.5X faster with DLSS 3 in the most graphically demanding games,” NVIDIA says.
While this might vary slightly from game to game, these are tangible benefits, even if small. Of course, the RTX 4070 Ti Super starts at a retail price of $799. And that’s not exactly a small chunk of change to throw down on a new GPU. That’s not even considering which brand of card you buy. Because the price can go up depending on the model and who made it. If you can swing it though, you can pick up the card from retailers like Best Buy, Amazon, and Newegg. So far it looks like cards from ASUS, MSI, Zotac, PNY, and Gigabyte are all available. Although some models may be out of stock.
There’s no Founder’s Edition model of this card coming. So if you want to upgrade to this card specifically, you’ll have to select from one of NVIDIA’s board partners. Also worth noting is that you may want to consider the RTX 4070 Super instead of the Ti Super version launching today. As you’ll get decent performance gains over the original RTX 4070, but at a more reasonable price of $599.
NVIDIA is pushing out a new Game Ready driver with the RTX 4070 Ti Super launch
To help prepare your rig for the new card NVIDIA has also pushed out a new Game Ready driver. These driver updates can be easy to miss. So make sure to launch your GeForce Experience app and head to the driver tab to update as soon as possible. The Game Ready driver preps the card for upcoming game releases including Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth, TEKKEN 8, and Enshrouded to name a few.
If you plan on playing any of those games you’ll definitely want to ensure the driver is updated to allow for an optimal experience. As one would have it, this driver also ensures all those games now have support for DLSS. Titles like TEKKEN 8 will support DLSS 2 while Like A Dragon: Infinite Wealth will support DLSS 3. Both of these games launch for PC on January 26.
Of course, if you don’t have the means to upgrade to a 40-series Super GPU just yet, you could always give GeForce NOW a try. With the Ultimate tier membership, you’ll be able to stream games with the power of an RTX 4080 GPU. And that could be better than what you’re currently working with.
