Samsung might soon take wraps off its next fitness tracker, the Galaxy Fit 3. While the company has yet to announce a launch date, it accidentally published a product page for the device on its official website. The page has since been taken down but not before the internet people could see it. The now-deleted listing revealed detailed specs and design of the upcoming fitness band.
Galaxy Fit 3 specs and design confirmed by Samsung
The Galaxy Fit 3 will succeed Samsung’s Galaxy Fit 2 launched in September 2020. Leaks and certification listings have already revealed some of its key specs. We have also seen the device in leaked renders. The Korean firm is equipping it with a wider display, making it look more like a smartwatch than a fitness band. Samsung has now confirmed this redesign, albeit accidentally.
According to the now-deleted product page on Samsung’s official website, the Galaxy Fit 3 will feature a 1.6-inch AMOLED display with a 256 x 402 pixels resolution. The company will ship the device with over 100 preloaded watch faces. You can also create custom watch faces. The tracker runs a custom OS (FreeRTOS) paired with 16MB RAM and 256MB storage. It boasts Bluetooth v5.3 for connectivity.
Like the previous-gen model, the Galaxy Fit 3 lacks GPS, NFC, and Wi-Fi. It has an aluminum body with 5ATM and IP68 rating for dust and water resistance. There’s a home button on the side, while the device also supports various gestures for intuitive navigation. It lacks a speaker but you will get vibration alerts for calls and messages from your paired smartphone. You can also control music and send texts from your wrist.
Sensors onboard include Accelerometer, Barometer, Gyro Sensor, Optical Heart Rate Sensor, and Light Sensor. The Galaxy Fit can track over 100 different exercises with automatic detection. Health features include heart rate monitoring, blood oxygen monitoring, sleep tracking, fall detection, and more, all synced with the Samsung Health app on your connected smartphone.
The fitness tracker supports Samsung’s camera controller
Samsung smartwatches let you control your Galaxy smartphone‘s camera (not available when paired with non-Galaxy devices). The Galaxy Fit 3 also has this feature. The device is powered by a 208mAh battery rated to last up to 13 days on a single charge with typical usage. Samsung doesn’t specify the charging speed but says 30 minutes of charging will top up the battery from 0 to 65%.
The whole package measures 42.9 x 28.8 x 9.9 mm in dimension and weighs just 18.5 grams without the band. With the stock band, which is detachable, it weighs 36.8 grams. Samsung has readied the fitness tracker in Pink Gold, Gray, and Silver colors. Since the company has already created a product page for the device with all the details, it may not be long before the Galaxy Fit 3 goes official.
