After Alphabet boss Sundar Pichai said Google One was close to reaching 100 million subscribers, almost everyone was eager to see if it would happen. And guess what? It did! Google One now has more than 100 million subscribers.
Google One crosses 100 million subscribers
Alphabet boss Sundar Pichai shared this update via his X handle. He also talked about how he’s hopeful that Google’s new AI Premium Plan, which includes Gemini Advanced and other features, will do just as well. By the way, if you haven’t heard, Bard has been renamed Gemini now.
Additionally, Google will introduce Gemini features in Gmail, Docs, and Workspace very soon. However, before that happens, Duet AI, which is part of the package, will need to undergo a rebranding. More importantly, this milestone corresponds with the YouTube Music + Premium which hit the same mark, i.e. 100 million subscribers.
Could more subscribers jump in?
Google One offers several tiers: Basic, Standard, Premium, and the newest addition, the AI Premium tier. Of course, as you step up, there’s more and more. The pricing for these tiers is $1.99, $2.99, $9.99, and $19.99 per month, respectively. The latest AI Premium Tier gets you access to advanced features like Gemini Advanced. If you’re already on a 5 TB or bigger plan, you get these extra features for free until July 31, 2024.
Google rebranded Google Drive cloud storage to Google One in May 2018, and ever since then, it has introduced several features. From the launch to today, Google One isn’t just about storing files; it’s a comprehensive suite of services. These include backing up your devices, using a VPN for safer browsing, earning rewards when you shop at the Google Store, and accessing premium features in Google Photos, Meet, and Calendar.
