We’re still a couple of months away from the Apple Watch Series 10 launch, but rumors and possible device specifications are gradually popping up. The latest report suggests that Apple’s upcoming wearable might feature blood pressure monitoring, like Samsung’s Galaxy Watch series.

The news comes from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, who hinted at the feature on the outlet’s Power On newsletter. As he reports, “all signs” suggest that Apple Watch Series 10 is more likely to get a blood pressure checker. Since the feature requires special hardware implementation within the device, Apple is unable to offer it to the older models through a software update.

Blood pressure monitoring reportedly comes to Apple Watch Series 10

Samsung first introduced blood pressure monitoring to its wearables in 2021 with the Galaxy Watch 3 and Galaxy Watch Active 2 models. The feature is now accessible in supported regions using the Samsung Health Monitor app.

Apple Watch devices can beat Samsung wearables in many aspects. However, as for blood pressure monitoring, Samsung is a few years ahead of Apple. The Korean OEM also seeks to add continuous glucose monitoring to its future watches.

While adding blood pressure monitoring to the Apple Watch Series 10 is still a rumor, Bloomberg’s Gurman has already leaked some details about the feature. For example, he said the feature won’t show the exact blood pressure readings to the user. Instead, it just tells them whether their blood pressure is high or going down.

Basically, it just gives a hint of your blood pressure situation, and the rest is on you. Meanwhile, he added that future versions of Apple’s blood pressure monitoring will show the exact readings.

Apple Watch Series 10 might be the company’s only wearable for 2024

In a surprising turn of events, Apple might only launch the Apple Watch Series 10 in its September 2024 event and ditch the Apple Watch Ultra 3 from its lineup. As Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo already said, the Cupertino-based tech firm didn’t start working on Watch Ultra 3 until late October last year, which could signal that the watch is removed from Apple’s lineup for 2024.
